Dong Yunhu, head of Shanghai’s top legislative body, has been placed under investigation by the Communist Party’s anti-graft watchdog, becoming the highest-ranking official probed in nearly a year.
Dong, party secretary and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai People’s Congress, is suspected of “serious violation of law and discipline” — a common euphemism for corruption — according to a brief statement published Wednesday by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
