Germany’s first-ever China strategy reflects the country’s increased emphasis on reducing economic dependence on its largest trading partner, but the document remains vague on specific measures, making its impact on bilateral trade and investment limited, sources told Caixin.

On July 13, the German federal government released its long-awaited “Strategy on China,” the first strategic document in Germany’s history to comprehensively articulate its policy and stance on China.
