Former U.S. Treasury Head Urges Beijing and Washington to Unite and Tackle Climate Change

A former American treasury official is warning of “uncontrolled and unabated” consequences from climate change by the end of the century, urging Washington and Beijing to work together to mitigate disaster.

Speaking at a China-U.S. climate finance dialogue in Beijing on Thursday, Henry Paulson — now founder of the Paulson Institute, a think tank focused on climate and environment cooperation between Beijing and Washington — said climate change is “a matter of national security,” adding that it “cannot be addressed or solved without cooperation between China and the United States.”
