The inclusion of the African Union (AU) in the Group of 20 (G20) of the world’s leading economies will help the continent improve its international standing and play a greater role in global governance with “one voice,” according to official and media reports.

The 55-member union of African nations has become a permanent member of the G20, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in his opening address at the annual summit of G20 leaders in New Delhi on Saturday.
