U.S. firms reported falling optimism for their China operations amid concerns over Sino-U.S. tensions, pressure to decouple and the country’s economic slowdown, a Tuesday survey report showed.
Only 52% of the 325 respondents said they were optimistic about their five-year business outlook in China, falling 3 percentage points (pp) from last year to the lowest level in the survey’s 25-year history, according to the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai)’s 2023 China Business Report.
