Liu Zhao, a former vice minister of public security, has been named to head the discipline inspection group at the newly established Social Work Department (SWD) of the party’s Central Committee, which is tasked to better handle complaints from the public.

The appointment was made public in reports published this week by business groups including China Chemical Safety Association and China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, which said Liu attended a meeting held by the SWD on Sept. 15.
