Trina Solar to Build PV Manufacturing Base in UAE

What’s new: Trina Solar Co. Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding to build a large-scale photovoltaic manufacturing base in the United Arab Emirates, the Chinese solar panel giant said late Wednesday.

The Trina Solar accord is with the Middle Eastern country’s port and economic zone operator, AD Ports Co. Trina Solar will build the plant in the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi, known as KEZAD, which is operated by AD Ports. The planned capacity includes 50,000 tons of high-purity polysilicon, 30 gigawatts of crystalline silicon wafers and 5 gigawatts of photovoltaic (PV) modules, to be built in three phases.
