Editorial: China’s Reform Movement Urgently Needs Another Breakthrough

With China facing a multitude of economic and societal challenges, there is hope there will be another breakthrough in the reform effort like the one made 10 years ago at the Third Plenum of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) 18th Central Committee. That session endorsed the Decision on Major Issues Concerning Comprehensively Deepening Reforms. It was unprecedented in scope and ambition as it spanned 60 articles and more than 300 reform measures. The “60 Articles” — as they were called — ushered in a new era of reform for China.
