What’s new: China’s highest court said that it is building a new database of legal cases in an effort to ensure the law is applied consistently.

Legal cases deemed to be a valuable reference will be included on the database, which will be accessible to the public after its establishment, the Supreme People’s Court said in a statement Friday.

The top court has already collected over 2,000 cases over the past three months for the database, including more than 1,200 civil cases, more than 500 criminal cases and more than 200 administrative cases, the statement said.
