127 People Held Accountable in Fatal Flash Flood in Sichuan

A state-owned enterprise’s fabrication and concealment of casualty data and local government officials’ connivance of such behavior led to the false reporting of a flash flood disaster, an official investigation found.

On August 21, a brief spell of intense rain triggered a flood and mudslide that destroyed the accommodation of a highway construction crew in Sichuan province, leaving six people dead and 46 missing.
