China’s Top Court Launches Database to Help Judges Make More Uniform Decisions

China’s top court has opened a new curated case database to the public in an effort to help judges across the country avoid coming up with different rulings for similar cases.

At Tuesday’s launch, Supreme People’s Court (SPC) officials reiterated their commitment for enhancing judicial transparency and public engagement in the wake of concerns the new platform heralded the closure of a decade-old case document database that has been held up as a symbol of judicial openness in China.
