What’s new: Air taxi developer Shanghai Autoflight Co. Ltd. said that it has completed the world’s first intercity demonstration flight of an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle in the latest show of the technology’s potential for long-distance transportation.
A five-seat Prosperity I flying car flew 50 kilometers (31.1 miles) Tuesday from the Shekou Cruise Homeport in the southern city of Shenzhen to the Jiuzhou Port across the bay in Zhuhai, the firm said in a social media post. It took about 20 minutes for the vehicle to complete the trip, which usually takes about three hours by car.
