While coal-fired power still provides roughly 60% of all China’s electricity, renewables are significantly reshaping the future structure of supply. By the end of May, the installed capacity of new energy generation in China reached about 1,600 gigawatts (GW), marking a 30% increase year-on-year and now accounting for over half of the total.
