Trust Is Always the Core Value in Philanthropy, Tencent VP Says

During last week’s World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Chen Juhong, vice president and head of Tencent Holding Ltd.’s Sustainable Social Value (SSV) department, told Caixin that the technology giant is making a concerted push into philanthropy, leveraging its well established and large customer base.
The company recently launched a national earthquake early-warning service using its social media and messaging platform WeChat. The service, developed in collaboration with various government agencies, would be the first time the app is used for sending such alerts. Following an earthquake, WeChat would issue a notification informing users about the severity of the tremor.
