Xi to visit Russia: President Xi Jinping will visit Moscow on May 7 to 10 to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, China’s foreign ministry said. Xi’s visit, upon invitation from the Kremlin, coincides with Russia’s Victory Day celebrations, which mark the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. The leaders plan to discuss the further development of China-Russia relations and major international and regional issues, a ministry spokesperson said Monday. Xi has made multiple state visits since the onset of the Trump administration’s global tariffs, including a series of meetings with Southeast Asian nations. The president last visited Russia in September 2024 for a BRICS summit. He previously met Putin in Beijing in May last year.
