A rundown of the news making headlines in and around China:

Huang praises Chinese AI: Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang has praised China’s open-source AI models, a day after the chipmaker said it expects to resume shipments of its H20 AI chips to the country. Speaking at the China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing, Huang said that large language models developed by Chinese companies are “world class” and have “spurred AI developments worldwide,” and that China’s open source AI is “giving every country and industry a chance to join the AI revolution.” The company’s H20 chip was designed to comply with Biden-era trade restrictions, but this was stalled after the incoming Trump administration tightened the rules.
