(Poder360) — Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade will meet Tuesday with Feninfra — the National Federation of Infrastructure and Networks — to discuss the federal government’s decision to apply anti-dumping tariffs on fiber optics and cables imported from China, according to Poder360.
According to estimates from the federation, the measure could increase the cost of the main inputs for telecommunications infrastructure in Brazil by up to 170%. The new tariffs establish a surcharge of $47.46 per kilogram for single-mode optical fiber and $2.42 per kilogram for optical fiber cables.
