Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to jointly maintain global strategic stability in a virtual meeting Wednesday, signaling a deepening partnership amid what Xi described as an “increasingly turbulent” international situation.
The meeting on Feb. 4 coincided with “Lichun,” the first solar term in the Chinese lunar calendar that marks the beginning of spring. According to a Xinhua News Agency report, Xi told Putin the day symbolized a “new beginning” and that he was ready to jointly draw a “new blueprint” for China-Russia relations.
