A Chinese national was killed in Tehran during the ongoing military conflict, China’s foreign ministry said Monday, marking a grim development for Beijing as it accelerates the evacuation of its citizens from the region.
Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning confirmed the death during a regular press briefing. “We express our condolences to the victim and sympathy to the bereaved family,” Mao said, adding that the foreign ministry has directed the Chinese Embassy in Iran to provide assistance to the victim’s family and handle related affairs.
