Former Chinese central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan urged major economies to revive international policy coordination, warning that rising geopolitical tensions and trade frictions could undermine global stability.

Speaking at the Boao Forum for Asia on Wednesday, Zhou cautioned against using tariffs to address trade imbalances, saying such measures could create “very tricky problems.” He said countries should instead seek solutions through multilateral frameworks such as the International Monetary Fund.
