China’s top tax authority has exposed a string of consumption tax evasion cases, signaling tighter enforcement as Beijing moves to overhaul how the tax is collected.

The State Taxation Administration disclosed eight cases spanning jewelry retailers, a liquor producer and a petrochemical distributor, marking the first multi-sector disclosure on consumption tax evasion in recent years.
