Chinese fast-fashion retailer Shein will close its first physical store in Paris before Christmas, after BHV Marais ended their partnership.

BHV Marais announced the decision on June 16, bringing an early end to a controversial pilot project that had drawn sharp criticism from local officials and fashion industry groups since its launch in late 2025.

The retreat underscores the challenges Chinese e-commerce platforms face in Europe, where efforts to expand offline can run into political opposition and tighter regulatory scrutiny.
