China Issues First Level 3 Certifications Under AI Device Grading System

China has awarded its first batch of Level 3 artificial-intelligence certifications to 66 smart devices from 17 companies, marking a significant regulatory step toward classifying advanced hardware.

Announced under a national standard introduced in May, the certifications establish a unified benchmark for China’s fast-evolving AI device market and underscore the shift in consumer electronics from software-driven tools to autonomous digital assistants.
