Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Washington must respect Beijing’s “core interests,” adhere to the one-China principle and manage bilateral disputes, as the two officials met in Manila on Tuesday.

Wang said the two countries should follow the course set by their presidents and translate their consensus into coordinated action across their governments, according to China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency.
