The July release of Kimi K3, a powerful open-weight model from China, served as a wake-up call for Washington and Silicon Valley. It demonstrated that Chinese developers are no longer merely replicating American capabilities at a lower cost. Instead, they are leveraging open-source strategies to aggressively capture global developers, enterprise users and the broader technology ecosystem.
