Singapore is stepping up its competition with Hong Kong for leadership as Asia’s top asset management hub, rolling out new tax incentives and visa measures aimed at attracting global funds and investment professionals.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Wednesday unveiled a three-part strategy that includes a proposed tax exemption on profit-linked returns for qualifying fund managers and a specialized visa pathway for senior investment professionals. The move comes after Hong Kong advanced legislation in June to broaden tax exemptions for investment funds and carried interest.
