China’s former emergency management minister, Wang Xiangxi, has been expelled from the Communist Party and removed from office over allegations that he took massive bribes and abused his power to enrich close associates.

The country’s top anti-graft watchdog announced Tuesday that Wang Xiangxi’s case has been transferred to prosecutors for criminal prosecution. The expulsion comes seven months after the 64-year-old official was first placed under investigation in late January.
