China’s top anti-corruption watchdog has launched an investigation into a former executive at a subsidiary of CHN Energy Investment Group Co. Ltd., bringing the number of managers probed at the state-owned conglomerate to at least 17 over the past 18 months.

The widening anti-graft sweep at the world’s largest coal-mining and power-generation company underscores Beijing’s continued drive to root out entrenched corruption across the country’s sprawling, state-run energy sector.
