China Aims for NEVs to Account for 70% of New Car Sales by 2030

The Chinese government has issued a five-year development plan for the intelligent-connected new-energy vehicle (NEV) industry, setting a target for NEVs to account for 70% of new passenger car sales by 2030.

The roadmap outlines China’s strategy to solidify its automotive dominance through technological upgrades, energy efficiency improvements and international expansion, even as domestic adoption rates are already nearing the target amid global energy volatility.
