Former Shenzhen Mayor Investigated Weeks After Job Transfer

Guangdong provincial legislator Qin Weizhong, Shenzhen’s former mayor, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Communist Party discipline and Chinese law, authorities said Monday, less than a month after he took up his new post.

Qin, 55, was a member of the Communist Party leadership group of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress. China’s top anticorruption agency, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and the National Supervisory Commission announced the investigation without providing details of the allegations.
