China Proposes Export Curbs on AI and Solar Technology
Listen to the full version

China proposed export controls on 40 technologies in artificial intelligence, biomedicine and solar manufacturing on Friday, including outright bans on 14.
The Commerce Ministry and Ministry of Science and Technology published the draft changes for public comment on Oct. 16. The remaining 26 technologies would require export licenses.
The proposal would tighten oversight of technology transfers underpinning Chinese companies’ overseas expansion, while preserving exemptions and streamlined approvals for much international AI collaboration.
