China Creates National Data Group to Advance Data Economy

China has launched China National Data Group Co. Ltd., a centrally administered state-owned enterprise tasked with developing and using the country’s data resources.

Backed by major state-owned telecom operators and power utilities, the wholly state-owned company marks a step in Beijing’s multiyear effort to treat data as a factor of production and support artificial intelligence development.
