China August Retail Sales Up 15%

(.com.cn) China's August retail sales rose 15.4 percent year-on-year to 1.01 trillion yuan, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Sept. 11.

The growth rate met the average forecast of 20 economists surveyed by , and was higher than July's 15.2 percent year-on-year rise.

Strong auto and property sales drove the continued impressive growth of retail sales, NBS spokesman Li Xiaochao said.
