Crunch Time for China's Eco-cities
(Beijing) -- Residents of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city started moving into their new homes earlier this month in the latest leg of an ambitious drive towards turning China's megacities from polluted, congested metropolises into new urban centers.
Up to 20 percent of the city's energy will be created from renewable sources, such as solar and geothermal power, and 90 percent of its transport will come from "green transport," which refers to non-motorized or public transport.
