High-Priced Ministry of Railways Ad Triggers Graft Probe
(Beijing) – A five-minute promotional video for the Ministry of Railways that cost the government 18.5 million yuan set off a graft probe which has since led investigators to a railway official and his wife.
Liu Ruiyang, the newly-appointed deputy director of the vehicle department in the ministry's Transport Bureau was placed under a corruption inquiry in mid-July, sources close to the ministry told Caixin. Liu's wife, Chen Yihan, also a staffer at the ministry, is also under investigation.
