Closer Look: NPC Unveils Lineup of State Council

The new State Council, the country's cabinet, debuted on March 17 after receiving the approval of the National People's Congress (NPC). It will be led by Premier Li Keqiang.

Four vice premiers and five state councilors were appointed. Also, new heads were named for nine ministerial departments.

The new vice premiers are Politburo members Zhang Gaoli and Liu Yandong; Ma Kai, the former secretary general of the cabinet; and Wang Yang, the former Communist Party chief of Guangdong Province.
