A Cruise Ship in Choppy Waters
The detention of the Henna, a Chinese cruise ship owned by a Hainan Airlines Group subsidiary, by South Korean authorities on a court order resulted in 2,300 people being stranded. The episode quickly escalated from a commercial dispute into an international incident.
The detention request was sent by Hong Kong-registered Shagang Shipping Co., which said HNA and its subsidiary owed huge amount in unpaid debts.
