Closer Look: The Era of Deifying GDP Growth Is Over. Now What?

(Beijing) – China's problems are as diverse as can be, but all of them – be they political, economic, social or cultural – boil down to a flawed institutional setup.

That makes it seemingly impossible to sort out the tangle, except we used to have a remedy for them all: a high GDP growth rate.

As long as the economy grew fast enough, time was on our side. As time passed, some of the problems solved themselves, some disappeared and others were muddled through. The rest were kicked down the road.
