Suing Gov't over Smog a Positive Step, Environmental Expert Says

(Beijing) – An environmental expert has praised a man for filing the country's first lawsuit against the government over worrying levels of air pollution.

Li Guixin, a resident of Shijiazhuang, capital of the northern province of Hebei that surrounds Beijing, filed a complaint in Yuhua District court asking the city's Environmental Protection Bureau to "perform its duty to control air pollution according to the law." He wants 10,000 yuan in compensation.
