Gov't Releases Rules to Curb Official Car Use

(Beijing) – A large number of government officials will see their privilege to use official vehicles abolished, according to new rules released by the National Development and Reform Commission as part of efforts to limit wasteful government spending.
The economic planner on July 16 issued two documents regarding the use of vehicles owned by central and local government agencies. According to the new rules, leaders under the vice-minister level will no longer enjoy the free use of official vehicles. Instead, they will receive monetary transportation subsidies according to their rank.
