Cabinet Proposes Overhauling Gov't, Private Pension Programs

(Beijing) – The cabinet has proposed unifying the pension schemes for civil servants and those in private sectors amid growing public discontent over inequality in the social security system, Xinhua News Agency reports.

The State Council made the proposal in a report to the Standing Committee of National People's Congress (NPC) for it to mull on December 23, the official news agency said. It called for a drastic overhaul of the pension system.
