Taiwan Gov't Tells Alibaba to Withdraw an Investment from Island

(Beijing) – Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has been ordered by Taiwan's government to withdraw an investment from the island after a subsidiary was found to have run afoul of regulations.

Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs said the branch, which is owned by Singapore-registered Alibaba.com Singapore E-commerce Private Ltd., should be considered a mainland firm and regulated like one.
