Notes from Latest Meeting of Party's Economic Affairs Group

The 11th meeting of the Central Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs, the Communist Party's top economic policymaking body, on November 10 sent out five signals about itself and the structural transformation of the economy that are worth attention.

First, this is the first time the group told the public it has held a meeting since February 10. (Official documents show it had held another meeting on poverty alleviation since then, but it was not announced to the public.) The group has met only three times this year, while the Central Leading Group for Comprehensively Deepening Reform, headed by party leader Xi Jinping, has met 10 times.
