China's Quantum Satellite Might Be a Step Back for Communication Security
On August 16, China launched the world's first quantum scientific satellite from a launch center in Jiuquan, Gansu. A 2,000-kilometer quantum communications line connecting Beijing and Shanghai will be completed by the end of 2016. In recent years, China has poured billions of dollars into building a wide-area quantum communication network, an allegedly hacker-proof new way to transmit sensitive information.
