In a sign of strength, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has paid 3.6 billion yuan for land in Shenzhen to build its new headquarters amid fierce competition in the global smartphone market.
Departments to be located at the new headquarters include R&D, mobile internet, the overseas division, and multi-purpose intelligent terminals, Oppo told Caixin.
The land, located on the Shenzhen Bay, covers an area of 18,100 square meters and a total construction area (or floor space) of 185,000 square meters.
