The Southern Chinese province of Guangdong has proposed a ban on pets on public transportation and in public indoor spaces, with violators facing fines from 50 yuan ($7.20) to 200 yuan. Owners found walking their pets without proof of immunization or muzzles for their animals will also be fined, according to state-run news site Southcn.com.
Earlier this month, the city governments of Hangzhou and Chengdu rolled out bans on some popular breeds of dogs including German shepherds and bull terriers, which they said were aimed at protecting citizens from being attacked or bitten by pet dogs.
