China’s vice premier and chief trade negotiator Liu He spoke by phone to U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer Tuesday morning China time, as scheduled, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce.

“The two sides exchanged views on implementing the consensus reached at the meeting between the two heads of state and promoting the next step of economic and trade consultations through a timeline and road map,” the ministry said.

After the Trump-Xi meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 summit earlier this month, the world’s two largest economies have agreed on a 90-day trade truce, in which both sides agree to back off on additional tariffs and pursue negotiations.
