Oscar hopeful “Green Book” has secured a March 1 release date in China — giving it an opening in the world’s second largest film market just days after next month’s Academy Awards.
Alibaba Pictures helped finance the film, and “is expected to support the China release with its powerhouse ticketing service Taopiaopiao and various other digital marketing channels,” according to Hollywood Reporter.
“Green Book” follows a gifted African-American musician as he encounters racism while touring the Deep South.
The film is nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and recently won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
