Gao Jinghong has been named a vice president of the Supreme People's Court, the National People's Congress Standing Committee announced Wednesday.
Usually the court – the most powerful one in the country – has five vice presidents. It is unclear what other personnel changes will take place.
The 59-year-old Gao graduated from Jilin University's law school and worked for the Supreme People's Court for 28 years before serving on the Higher People's Court of Tianjin.
Gao returned to the Supreme People's Court to become a member of its leading Party group in December 2018.
