China Prices for Carbon Credits Hit Four-Month High as Trade Surges

Prices of carbon dioxide equivalents in China reached a four-month high on Monday, as companies rushed to buy carbon credits before the first compliance period comes to end.

The price jumped 5.4% from the previous day to close at 49.18 yuan ($7.71) per ton on Monday, the highest since ending the day at 50.20 yuan on Aug. 24, according to official figures (link in Chinese).
